RE:          CAMPAIGN UPDATE: SIGNATURES, EVENTS & A NEW VIDEO

The past two weeks have again seen several strong developments for John and Mary’s campaign and provided a good indication of the strength of our grassroots team.

STRONG SUPPORT FROM ALL 88 COUNTIES

Last Wednesday the campaign filed the necessary paperwork for John and Mary to appear on the ballot as Republican candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and it was made possible with the help of Ohioans in all 88 counties.  Collecting signatures from every county took the coordinated effort of our statewide grassroots team, including some extraordinary contributions from volunteers who trekked through snowy weather so we could meet the deadline.  John has repeatedly made clear that he’s running an 88-county race because it’s going to take the effort and input from every Ohioan to dig us out of the mess the state is in.  The successful 88-county petition drive was just another example of that commitment in action.

BOTTOM LINE: John Kasich and Mary Taylor enjoy an extraordinary amount of support from every corner of the state.  Our robust and active grassroots network will help deliver success on Election Day.

TAKING THE JOBS AND ECONOMIC MESSAGE TO NW OHIO

Last Thursday John discussed his vision for creating jobs and reviving Ohio’s economy with northwest Ohio business leaders at events in Sandusky and Erie counties.  To see a video of the day’s events click here.

In Clyde, John met with approximately 125 local business leaders at Clydescope, a program of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, where he discussed his vision for creating the pro-growth environment that will help attract new businesses to the state and help existing businesses expand and create jobs.  [Click here to see news coverage].

At Industrial Nut Corp. in Sandusky, John toured the plant and held a roundtable discussion with Erie County business leaders to learn their views on the state of Ohio’s economy and solicit their ideas for how to get the state back on track.  [Click here to see news coverage].

BOTTOM LINE: Ohio’s business leaders are responding well to John and Mary’s strategy of creating jobs and reviving Ohio’s economy by cutting taxes and modernizing government.

SANDUSKY/ SENECA /OTTAWA COUNTY LINCOLN DAY DINNER

John wrapped up is day in NW Ohio with approximately 350 Republican leaders at the Sandusky/ Seneca/Ottawa Tri-County Lincoln Day Dinner, held in Fremont.  The crowd was standing-room-only and extra tables had to be brought in to accommodate all the dinner guests.  John appreciated the very warm welcome and the enthusiastic response to his remarks.  John and Mary have a busy schedule of Lincoln Day dinners over the coming months and are looking forward to continuing to get around the state and meet more and more Republican grassroots leaders.  Check the campaign website here to see where they’ll be next.

BOTTOM LINE: Ohio’s grassroots Republican leaders are fired up and are looking forward to helping elect John and Mary and the rest of this year’s strong Republican ticket.

A NEW CAMPAIGN VIDEO

On Tuesday of this week, Mary Taylor sent an email to supporters and Republican leaders which unveiled a new video entitled simply, “Meet John”.  Click here to watch it.  In it, John talks about his work in Congress to lead the effort to balance the federal budget, how he wants to apply this experience in Ohio to get us back on track, his family and what’s important to him in life.  We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from it and urge you to, if you haven’t already, watch it and forward it to others.

BOTTOM LINE: John has a compelling personal story and a strong vision for our state, and the campaign is using every available resource, including the latest online and social media tools, to connect with voters across the state.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE

On Tuesday, John and Mary both spoke to Ohio’s farmers at the Farm Bureau’s annual Ag Day at the Statehouse, and discussed the importance of tearing down the barriers that hold agriculture back.  John talked about the importance of including agriculture in Ohio’s Third Frontier program, given the high-tech nature of the industry; the importance of helping boost Ohio agricultural exports; and his support for Ohio farmers in their fight against animal rights’ extremists who want to dictate how they run their farms.

BOTTOM LINE: John and Mary have a thorough understanding of the importance that agriculture plays in Ohio’s economy and are committed to helping farmers succeed.

MUSKINGUM COUNTY LINCOLN DAY DINNER

On Thursday Mary traveled to Zanesville to talk with Republican grassroots leaders about the vision she and John have for Ohio’s future and how to return our state to prosperity. Mary’s experience as a certified public accountant and Auditor of State mean that when she talks about the state’s management and economic challenges, people listen.  She was warmly received at the event and was impressed by the turnout and the energy of Muskingum County Republicans.

BOTTOM LINE: Ohioans continue to appreciate the energy and credibility that Mary brings to the ticket and understand the valuable role she will play in reducing the size of government.

Thank you for all you are doing everyday to help build the campaign’s grassroots network and spread the word about how John and Mary will bring the change we so desperately need.
